WHAT ARE THOSE WHITE PLASTIC VENT PIPES STICKING OUT OF MY ROOF?
Those white plastic PVC pipes jutting out of your roof have little to do with your roof, and a lot to do with your home’s plumbing system. Without that vent, and there’s one connected to every drain in your house, the water leaving your sinks, showers and toilets would slow and hiccup and not have smooth operation.
The roof worries begin when the seal and “boot” around the vent leaks water into your attic, onto your insulation or through your ceilings sheetrock.
Such leaks, which often are seen as tea-colored stains, may be just a symptom of a roof with other evidence of failure, or it may be that you just need these boots serviced or replaced.
